Pamela Macsai Baumgartner, has had a lifelong journey as an artist along with a three-decade side gig as art teacher and educator. Born and raised on the vitality of the south side of Chicago, she went on to study at The Rhode Island School of Design, a mecca of creativity and discovery. It was there that Pamela also experienced teaching and began the balance of experiencing the creative processes while also teaching those processes. After a short detour in sunny California working with Misch Kohn, she continued her studies with Stanley William Hayter at the Atelier 17 in Paris France. Falling in love brought her to Fribourg Switzerland where she and Rene-Agass Baumgartner continued printmaking at the atelier/studio they established.

Drawn to diverse opportunities they returned to Chicago where she continued her artistic growth combined with full time teaching art in the world of teenage angst and possibility. While she worked in her studio, she frequently brought her processes and imagery into the class where she would encourage her students to critique, investigate and probe deeply into the universe of artistic decision-making.

Today Pamela primarily works in her studio indulging in the pulse of a city and the diverse energy that is found everywhere. And for new inspiration the travel bug bites and off she goes.

Of course there is more to the story of Pamela. While this site highlights her art work, all the other events, facts, and dates can be found on this site through her resume. If you want even more details please contact her directly.
